You can choose to work any day each week or stick to a routine. We meet at 8.30 am in a morning in Shepley HD8 8DH. We tend to work until 4;00 pm in the winter months and 5.30 pm in the summer months. You do not need to drive or own your own car, as you will be taken to each garden in an insurance vehicle.

We provide all personal protective equipment such as a warm high visibility jacket, safety boots, gloves, ear and eye protection. After your induction you will given on-the-job training in health and safety, use of gardening tools and horticulture. You will be working in clients gardens in and around HD8 areas of Huddersfield. We therefore require you to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) and based on this and a face-to-face interview we risk assess your needs and get you started!

At the end of your time at Sunshine Sunflower Foundation you will have your own e-portfolio which provides a strong evidence base at guaranteed interviews at local garden centres, nurseries and landscaping businesses. If you are interested in self-employment, Sunshine Sunflower Foundation offers transitional support to establish gardening businesses, nestled in your own community.
