Our Trustees

Welcome to Sunshine Sunflower Foundation and thank you for taking an interest in what we do.

We take a lot of pride in making sure our services are really responsive to the needs of our young people, and that everything we do is high quality and protects the health and well being of the young people we come into contact with.

We are so lucky to be able to provide guidance to volunteer and founder Ian Lumb and Director, Debbie Lumb. As trustees we do our best to be supportive of all our young people, staff and our volunteers.

Hello I'm Les Mettrick.

As well as overseeing governance of the charity I am keen to volunteer too to help our young people learn about growing fruit and vegetables as I've been an allotment grower for 45 years! I think it is really important that everyone knows where our food comes from and how to enjoy the taste of freshly picked fruit and vegetables and also how to look after the land for future generations.

Hello I'm Lee Paxton.

I'm a parent Trustee and keen to support the charity because when my son decided college wasn't for him, he thrived at Sunshine Sunflower Foundation. His 12 month placement allowed him to learn new skills and make that important transition to gaining employment. I continue to be amazed and feel privileged to be part of the work the charity do.

Hello I'm Hayley Sykes.

Having trained as a Business teacher in 2005 and having held various educational roles, pastoral and leadership. I left mainstream education to pursue teaching children with additional needs in Pupil Referral Units and children who had been excluded from mainstream schools. I am now a qualified SENDCo and held roles within school improvement. My specialist SEND experience is within Social, Emotional and Mental Health and children with Autism. I am also Trauma informed trained and a Mental Health First Aider. Making a difference is my main motivator and I am proud to support this charity which is doing just that for young people.

Hello I'm Jackie Mc Gregor.

I have over 20 years experience of working in the field of disability, namely cerebral palsy. I am delighted to support Sunshine Sunflower Foundation because I understand the importance of working outdoors on horticultural projects of this nature - it really can heal the soul and in time provide a fantastic career as a Landscape Gardener.

Hello I’m Carl Hope

Trained as an electro-mechanical engineer I started on design and progressed onto bespoke sales enabling me to spend time working with people at all levels from directors to installation teams. On retirement I became involved with local community Neighbourhood Watch, Cumberworth Community Association and treasurer for the Parochial Church Council. This enabled me to continue to interact with people in the local community helping them get the best out of life. Working with this charity will let me extend my support to young people who need extra assistance to enjoy a fulfilling life.
